Over the last few months we enjoyed having aunt Jeannie stay with us while Grandma and Grandpa Dosdall traveled; we enjoyed many trips to the water park and fun center; we spent lots of time and money getting ready for school; we went on a family camping trip up Cottonwood Canyon; we enjoyed a very special day at the Draper temple doing baptisms and confirmations for some of our ancestors with 9 grandchildren, kids and kids-in-law, and grandparents; we attended the Brigham City temple open house and watched a session of the dedication via live satellite; we finally have the money and a contractor and should begin work on our siding damage this week; our family ran an atrial fib awareness 5K and fun run; and our kids mourned the end of summer fun and the return to a busy school schedule. I did too (though somewhat less than they did). I enjoy having them home. We also spent a week in China while Derek's parents and sister graciously stayed with the kids. Karen and Jeannie manned the home front, while Jim killed a lengthy list of home improvement/repair projects that would've taken us several months to complete. We are so blessed and grateful for wonderful parents/family!! Speaking of, we had a great general conference weekend with my parents and my brother and his family visiting. It's good to be able to see family so often!
Derek:
1. Built a new plaque with electrodes for taking readings on human patients. He is collaborating with a cardiologist to get some human data. He's excited about it.
2. Attended week-long scout camp, an overnight scout campout, and youth conference.
3. Replaced our leaking water heater on his own using the cash-out on our home warranty settlement.
4. Was invited to present some research at the hospital in Shanghai, China again.
5. Has been working feverishly on a grant due this week.
Aly:
1. Enjoyed a visit from my parents. We toured some facilities as possible future homes for Jeffrey. We found a perfect one in West Jordan. My parents will now start looking for homes and will hopefully move here (with Jeffrey) sometime next spring or summer.
2. Attended a party with former ward members from the ward I grew up in. It was so fun to see so many people I grew up with--it had been many years.
3. Sang in sacrament meeting at church.
4. Started a preschool with some neighborhood moms. I'm hosting in October--it should be fun!
5. Is singing at stake conference in a couple of weeks with a women's choir.
James:
1. Is sporting a new look with contacts instead of glasses, and a new new hairstyle. He is now officially taller than me. Yikes!
2. Enjoyed youth conference at Fort Williams. They had some cool obstacle course activities and he enjoyed playing volleyball with the youth.
3. Is taking AP Environmental Science (which he enjoys) and lots of honors courses. He also enjoys release time seminary.
4. Was called as the1st counselor in the teacher's quorum at church. He has been very responsible and involved in planning activities for the boys.
5. Enjoyed having his friend, Sam, come over this summer to play video games.
Jeffrey:
1. Is taking AP Human Geography, Physics with Technology, and lots of honors courses this year. He and James have been more careful to turn in all their assignments now that they lose computer time until their missing assignments are taken care of.
2. Worked hard to earn some money for a new video game, Imperial Glory, which he really loves.
3. He and James reluctantly participated in summer band, and Jeffrey is doing jazz band again this year.
4. Gave a talk in sacrament meeting at church--quoted Veggie Tales and Shakespeare. I can't think of anyone else who could manage to quote both of those in the same 3 minute talk.
5. Loves to play volleyball at the park sand court with the older kids and some neighbors.
Ashley:
1. Is happy about getting her bottom braces off.
2. Since we moved here her hair has slowly turned a very faint green color. We finally figured out why (broken water softener) and we found a shampoo that is slowly returning it to it's original color.
3. Has been listening to the Percy Jackson books on CD on her MP3 player.
4. Turned 12 in August, and celebrated with a trip to Boondocks fun center with her three BFF's. She got her ears pierced, some new earrings, some makeup, a volleyball, and some money.
5. Has enjoyed 7th grade so far, and loves going to Young Women at church. She is no longer taking ballet, but joined the drama club at school and will be part of a community youth theater class and performance starting in January.
Lexie:
1. Took a hip hop dance class this summer, which she loved.
2. Jumped on the tramp with the sprinklers under it with Faith almost daily this summer.
3. Got into the Centerville Elementary spectrum program (new school) which she loves. Thankfully it's still very close and she's made friends quickly. She does have quite a bit of homework, but she's definitely not bored and enjoys her teacher.
3. Decided not to play soccer this fall, and is doing the school play, Annie, instead. She was cast as one of the main orphans, July. Rehearsals are twice a week for 2 hours each, so she's a busy girl!
5. Celebrated her 10th birthday with a trip to Get Air trampoline gym with her friend, Madison. She got the game of Life, a craft set, some Lord of the Rings legos, some Squinkies, and some money.
Faith:
1. Got stung by a dead hornet on the tramp this summer. Still talks about it. It was traumatic.
2. Became officially potty trained at the beginning of August. She's done a great job. Yahoo!
3. Enjoys sleeping in Lexie's bed almost every night. Thankfully Lexie doesn't mind most of the time.
4. Asks for "apple juice, water, and one ice" in her sippie cup several times a day.
5. Loves singing songs all day long. I love to hear her.
6. Celebrated her 3rd birthday with her best friend, Logan, at the McD's playland. She had an ice cream cake since she hasn't liked any regular or cookie cakes that she's tried. She got a set of wooden puzzles, some fridge magnet letters and numbers, Squinkies, and a Dora toy cell phone.
That's all for now. Enjoy some photos from the last few months:
